rv dreaming...straight outta Brooklyn

--Current location Anchorage-- Denali National Park 6/28-7/2 We free docked at BLM land so that we were close to Denali to enter the park early on the 28th. We got to Denali National Park mid morning and got our bearings about our campground, bus ticket (can only access the park past mile 15 via park bus) etc from the visitors center. We then made our way to Teklanika campground mile 29 where we were going to stay for the next four nights. We hung around the campground prepping ourselves for an early morning the next day. 6/28 we took the Denali bus to Wonder Lake. This whole trip from our site to Wonder Lake (mile 100) takes a full day. Finn and Ailish were terrific having to spend so many hours on a bus. We lucked out with a great driver who gave us a good deal of information about the land and went out of his way so that we could see some wildlife. We saw two wolves (grey artic and black) which was rare since only 70 wolves live in the entire park. We saw Caribou, Moos...

---Curent location Anchorage Alaska--- 6/25 We are headed to Fairbanks today but decided to stop over at the North Pole! Who could not resist a 35 foot statue of Santa and meeting the jolly man himself before Xmas. Finn had a blast and actually talked to Santa who now knows he wants anything Paw Patrol and a light up race track for Christmas. Ailish was not as thrilled to meet him 😀 .  We then made our way into Faibanks. Grabbed a bite to eat  and drove the town. The next day we went to the UAF Botanical Gardens. Nice grounds and some flowers were really starting to bloom. We rounded out the day at Pioneer Park; playing, eating ice cream and catching the live music they had that night (1 man with a keyboard playing jazz---made us miss Celebrate Brooklyn). Finn made a few friends at the park and had a blast racing around with them on his scooter. 6/27 we dropped off Frankie at a Kennel for 5 days as we make our way down to Denali National Park. ...

---current location Seward Alaska--- 6/19 -6/24 We now embark to one of our bucket list places ALASKA baby! Well not yet but the journey starts in Dawson Creek  Canada. This is mile 0 of the Alaskan Highway.We spent the day walking the town and looking at the sights. For being such a well known place they did not have to much to do so we ended up at their community pool which was awesome. We think that since they have so many months of cold they need to have an awesome community center. This was like a water park but for dirt cheap. We all had a blast swimming and playing with the bubbles. Next day we hit the road to start this long stretch of road to get to Alaska. Along the four day journey we saw beautiful scenery, ate some good pie and cinnamon buns (they love them up in these parts). Really got the sense of what it means to be rural. Long stretches between each town and what we mean by town is one store that caters to all. Didn't have to pay a night for lodging. Y...

---Current location Soldotna Alaska--- 6/16 (cont'd)  Icefields Parkway is 181 miles of road that traverse the Canadian Rockies between Banff and  Jasper National Parks. It is one of the most beautiful stretches of road we have ever seen. You pass numerous and massive Glaciers, Glacial Lakes and Waterfalls and see some incredible wildlife. The trip takes about four hours but it is well worth it. There are plenty of places to pop out and hike, camp and just take in the amazing view. We stopped for a meal at the Icefields Center. By the time we got in (6:30pm) the low key cafe we hoped to eat at was closed. They were serving dinner in their fancy restaurant and we were concerned about our dress. It after being assured by the maitre d that looked alright we stayed for their buffet.  Finn loved that you could just choose a little of anything. He is still talking about that meal. After the meal we went and hiked up the ....Glacier to take in the enormity of this place. Sad ...
