Waterton & Banff National Park Canada

---Current location Saldotna Alaska---

Woke up at fish creek campground to a rainy day.  We made our way to St. Mary's campground again to look for a missing credit card we believe fell out by the ranger kiosk. No luck finding the card so we ate a quick meal in the RV and then started to make our way to Waterton Canada.  Arrived in Waterton early afternoon but the rain was still pouring. So we ended up having a low key evening of walking around the little town, eating pizza (met a fabulous waitress who gave us great hike suggestions) and then watched a little of Wallace and Gromit.

Woke up to clear skies and headed out to drive the park and do a few hikes with Franklin unlike in the states where dogs are not allowed on the trails in National Parks. We hiked Blakenstain Falls, Red Canyon and Lake Crandall. Had two bear sightings from the RV one Grizzly and one Black bear. All were pooped after the hikes so we went and ate dinner at the historic Prince of Whales hotel. Then it was off to Pincher Creek for the night.

Off to Banff National Park. Once in Banff we started looking for a campsite. On the way we saw elk grazing at the side of the park and a mom black bear with her two cubs. This was a good omen and an amazing sight to see. We got to the Tunnel Mountain campground and then headed off to check out downtown Banff. Finn scooted and we browsed the shops and just took in the scenery. We really like the town of Banff. Nice layout and really great for both tourists and locals alike.

We decided to see the Caves in Banff which is the birthplace for the Canadian National Parks. With Franklin stowed away we set out into the cave. Within the cave is a hot spring and some cool rock formations. Finn thought it was really neat and brought his lantern to light the way for all. After we walked around the Cave we toured the grounds which had a little living museum set up and then did their boardwalk hike. After the Cave we decided to hit the town again to have a picnic in their riverside park and then make our way to Jasper National park via the Icefields Parkway.
