Montana

Current location Fairbanks Alaska!

6/1
We arrived in Montana last night and crashed at a rest site. Now it's off to Fort Peck State campground. It's a scorcher of a day and by the time we arrived at the campground we were all a bit over heated and on edge (at least Zoë was). We decided to check out one of the three swimming areas they had to cool off. After taking a suggestion from the interpretive center on where to swim we ended up at a little beach. There were some other folks there just a handful and a dog named Katonah. We spent the afternoon there chatting with our new friends, swimming and eating dinner. Even Franklin had a blast. He played with Katonah and went in the water. For those of you who know Franklin he normally avoids it like the plague. This was revolutionary 😃.

We then said goodbye to all and headed back to the campground. Finn and Dan did a little fishing off the dock by our site and they were lucky enough to see a beaver swim by and Finn caught a sunny. A storm blew in real quick and we all hit the hay for the night. We spent the morning at the campground and then made our way into Glasgow so that Dan could pay a visit to a dentist. Once his tooth was all set (pun intended) we made our way west. We stopped at a park in the town of Havre where we played had a picnic and took in a couple of innings of a little league game. At the game Ailish decided to crawl for her first time! We celebrated by grabbing two pieces of fantastic pie at Wolfers (Cherry & Lemon Meringue ) and then free docked at a rest stop in Conrad.

6/3- Woke up to hot weather for a change and made our way into the town of Conrad for their Whoop-Up Festival and Rodeo. We caught the parade which was filled with cars, floats and people throwing candy to the kids. Finn got so much candy a lovely couple next to us gave him a bag to hold it all. After the parade we had some lunch and then made our way to the Rodeo. We all enjoyed watching the events from the kids riding ewes to the bull riding fun was had by all. The rodeo grounds were neat just a bunch of seats carved into a huge hill and the crowd was a blast to hang with. Crashed at a rest stop again that evening and now it's off to Glacier National Park.
