North Dakota

---Current location Grande Prarie Canada---

5/25- Spent the day in Fargo just milling around and then made our way for a Harvest Host stay at the Red Trail Winery. We were lucky enough to get there on a day when they were hosting a dinner for a bunch of farmers. We joined them for dinner and had a great meal and wonderful conversations with the other guests. Our hosts were fantastic and the other guests made us feel right at home. What a nice way to kick off the great state of North Dakota.

5/26 off to Jamestown. We had high hopes for Jamestown but unfortunately it turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. We stopped at a local mom and pop fast food joint called Polar king. A bit greasy and cluttered inside with all the hanging polar bears. We then headed to Frontier village to see the "old town" and the worlds largest buffalo. Town was hodgepodge and lack luster but the buffalo statute was indeed big. We then made our way to the Lewis and Clark Interpretive rest stop for  the evening. The views were amazing and the center was very clean. We had a nice meal outside and then scooted/walked a little trail to the Little Missouri River.

5/27-Fort Stevenson for Skyfest 2017. On our way there we tried cooking in our convection oven while driving at the same time. Nothing beats the smell of bacon while doing 60 down a scenic road 🥓!! Skyfest is a kite festival that is held at this state park each year. We had a lovely time flying our kite (even Franklin took a turn) and enjoying the activities they had there that day. Finn made a new kite and got to participate in a candy drop which he enjoyed. Spent the night at the campground there and decided to stay the next day for more Skyfest activities. We just hung around, rode bikes, played with other kids and hit the candy drop again 😀. We left around 3pm to make our way to a truck stop outside of Theodore Roosevelt National Park to sleep. During the trip we drove through the oil fields of ND. We saw towns that clearly were recent additions due to the oil boom. We ate dinner at a brewery in Watford ND and Finn played shuffleboard then off to bed for us at the truck stop.

*update about ticks. We got them all off so no one had any little pest attach themselves. All are ok.
