Off to Iowa to Harvest Host again at Hansens Dairy Farm in Hudson IA. I will just start by saying it was gorgeous weather wise. We arrived at 3pm in order to take the 3:30 tour. Jeanne one of the owners met us warmly when we arrived and then we hopped on the the tractor trolley driven by Jay her husband along with a few others to tour the barn and creamy. We had an in depth tour about what a dairy farmers daily life is like. We milked some cows, fed the new calfs which Finn loved and got to meet their Kangaroos. Yes I did say Kangaroos.

Then we headed back to the tasting room and made butter, nibbled on cheese curds and had our scoops of ice cream. After the tasting we headed out to our rig to hang out for the night which was now feeling hot, humid and super windy. Before we got in we noticed Jeanne and two of her granddaughters swimming in the pond. Jeanne invited us to swim and even asked he granddaughters to grab Finn some toys. After playing and swimming for a bit Jeanne asked Dan and Finn if they wanted to ride a real tractor. Jay was gathering up the hay because a storm was coming in. When I said it was getting windy I meant it. A bad storm with tornado warnings was issued for our county in Iowa. Dan and Finn jumped at the opportunity and rode around with Jay for quite sometime. Then the whole family went to our RV for dinner and bed. Let's just say it was really windy and Finn and Ailish ended up in our bed because hail pelted us around 3am. Woke up the next morning and decided we should try to make our way out of Iowa due to severe weather again (Tornado watch this time) 😱. Said goodbye to Jean and Jay and then ventured out into the bad weather. We cannot say enough great things about Hansen's Dairy Farm it was by far our best Harvest Host stay! Jean and Jay treated us like family they even gave Finn a little parting gift.
