Chicago

Arrived in Chicago at 3pm. You are allowed to park in downtown Chicago at the McCormick Place truck Marshaling parking lot. This is not a stellar location but it does give you easy access to the city. That evening we walked to Millennium Park. Got to see Soldiers Field and some of the Museums. We ate Chicago dogs from Devil Dawgs a local place for dinner in Grant Park. The hot dogs were not as good as we had heard but the setting was beautiful. By the time we walked back to our rig in was 10pm. The McCormick parking lot is parking for Soldiers Field would be a great place to come back to to tailgate. Late night for kids but good exercise for Mom, Dad and Franklin.
5/10- We set out for our touristy Chicago day. Morning was nice but wet weather made its way to us in the pm. Gotta say we are pretty sick of ☔️. It's been an unusually wet and cold spring for many of the states we have visited so far. Any way we started with and ride on the L train to Lincoln Park for deep dish pizza Lou Malnatis very good deep dish pizza. Thanks for the suggestion Tiffany!
We then walked to Lincoln Park itself and went through their free Zoo. Large Zoo well maintained and more animals than we expected. We almost left our three year old there since he has now embraced the terrible threes 😱. At the Zoo the rain came in so we made our way with umbrellas down the Magnificent Mile to the Michigan Avenue Bridge. On our way back to our RV we stopped to see the Bean and the Buckingham Fountain. By the time we got back we were water logged so it was grilled cheese and soup for dinner in RV.

Left McCormick Place on our way to
Madison Wisconsin. Stopped at Rockford Illinois for Discovery Museum so kids could blow off steam. Museum was disc. from the outside. But once inside the exhibits kept going and going. Finn had a blast playing a whack a mole like exhibit that illustrated the cause and effect between exercise and heart rate. We spent four hours in this fabulous Museum thanks Jen for the suggestion. Off to another truck stop for the night.
